The Kahuna kalai ki‘i or image maker was one of the most important people in our ancient culture. Beginning with basic wood sculpture techniques we will offer classes on sacred temple images for those students who want to learn the art of carving. Staring with basic wood sculpture and working into advanced sculpting classes students will learn protocols and traditions related to the Kahuna kalai ki‘i from master craftsmen and skilled carvers.
